Speaking Topic city 1 - Hoi An ancient town IELTS speaking part 2 sample

 IELTS SPEAKING PART 2 SAMPLES

TOPIC: CITY

SAMPLE 1.      HOI AN ANCIENT TOWN

The place I'd like to talk about today is none other than Hoi An ancient town, located in Quang Nam, a central region of Vietnam. This destination attracts an influx of tourists to come every year.

It's interesting to know that Hoi An is an ancient sea port with a melting pot of Cham, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, and European influences. It served as a spice trading center, a settling point for Ming Dynasty merchants, and a hub for international trade in the past. The Japanese Bridge, the mark of Japanese culture in Vietnam, is the only covered bridge in the world that houses a Buddhist temple, serving as a spiritual landmark in the Ancient Town.

I was also amazed at the flavor of delectable local delicacies. Cao Lau, for instance, is a really scrumptious dish with a unique texture originated from Chinese noodles. These are topped with pork-belly slices, bean sprouts, fresh herbs, and dry pancake. This is finished off Vietnamese style, with a spoonful of broth, chili, and lime.

I really enjoyed my time in Hoi An ancient town. It was a one-of-a-kind experience, and if I have enough free time, I will gladly have another trip back to this town.

SAMPLE 2.      HOI AN ANCIENT TOWN

Hoi An, an old town in Vietnam's central province of Quang Nam, is the location I'd like to discuss today. Every year, a large number of tourists are drawn to this location.

It's interesting to learn that Hoi An is a historic seaport with influences from the Cham, the Vietnamese, the Chinese, the Japanese, and the Europeans. In the past, it served as a hub for international trade, a spice trading center, and a place for Ming Dynasty merchants to settle. The Japanese Bridge acts as a spiritual landmark in the Ancient Town and is a representation of Japanese culture in Vietnam. It is the only covered bridge in the world to contain a Buddhist temple.

The flavor of the delicious local fare also astounded me. For instance, Cao Lau is a wonderfully tasty dish with a special texture that is made from Chinese noodles. Slices of pork belly, bean sprouts, fresh herbs, and dry pancake are placed on top of them. Vietnamese-style garnishing includes a spoonful of broth, some chile, and lime.

I had a great time exploring the historic town of Hoi An. It was a one-of-a-kind experience, and I would gladly return to this town if I had more free time.
